Week 3... The Whole Caboodle!

Tuesday - Day 1

It was a day with a few interruptions that couldn't be avoided.

Matua Mike rolled with it... getting all 60 students to work collaboratively and communicate in Te Reo.

The students placed an item on the placemet, then asked "Kei hea to....." To which the other student resonded with the matching answer. We couldn't remeber the Maori words for some things, like 'glasses', 'chair' and 'scissors' so we looked them up on the Maori online dictionary.

Our task this week is to collaborate and create a 3D model of a city. We started out by making nets of 3D shapes as a refresher.

Reflection:

What has been your most positive experience in Room 4 today?
Oskar: Working with my friends in room 15 and 17!
Naomi: Collaborating with other people in different classes.
Cameron: I enjoyed planning my groups 3d model

What is something that could be better in Room 4 today?
Ben: less noisy.
Levi: We could have less laptops around.
Josh: The timing of changing over wasn't that good.

What is something that you were able to do today that you wouldn't have done in your own class?
Baylie: work with other people.
Gary & Levi: use the chrome books

What would be a good effective question for our end of day reflection?
The students own ideas have been used to create the next days reflection.
Reflections are done via a Google Form, which the students access via a Google Document which outlines their must do's and can do's for the week. These are also distributed throughout the classroom as reference points for the kids.

Wednesday - Day 2

Today we had the pleasure of welcoming a visiting choir from Hawthorndene School in Adelaide, South Australia.

Yesterday afternoon the whole school had to go into the hall. Kapa Haka boys performed their Haka. The teachers in front got a big fright. Then the girls got in front and we did another song.Next the school did a song and the Australians introduced themselves .Caleb
